The Elf on the Shelf

I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner! This is a neat little tradition that one of my sister-in-laws found.  I thought I would share incase someone hasn't seen it yet!
I wanted to start it this year, however, this Christmas we are a little bit in shambles...we have another move possible for our family.  Because of the level of uncertainity I have not be able to put up any decorations which is killing me because my daughter is at the funniest age for this time of year.  I am feeling like I am missing out on a year of the funniest times! You know as kids get older it just is not the same as when they are little and so so excited for Santa!! In the last 2 years we have moved twice and looking now at the 3rd!!! We just moved 3 months ago to where we are now!! I had my 2nd daughter and was moving before she was a month old! Now again when she is 4 months poor girl is gettin some travelin in for sure.

Any who....
Here is the Elf on the Shelf ....

You place it somewhere in your home and when the kids are misbehaving you tell them the elf is watching who is good or bad for Santa. Then at night the Elf flies home to the North Pole while the kids are sleeping and you place the Elf in another spot the next day in the house.  So it looks like he left and came back to sit somw where else! Next year for sure I am going to start this tradition with my girls...Hope you enjoy as well.

Quote of the Week

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.  ~Leo Buscaglia

When I saw this quote I had to post it. I think with the Holiday Season approaching it is a great reminder for all of us that giving and just being there for the people we love and even the people we just met is what CHRISTmas is all about!!

Hope it is a Great Day!!

Black Beauty

My almost 4 year old daughter loves horses and we have had her around them her whole life so far.  We finally broke down and bought her, her own horse.... Dolly!! We bought it from Flordia and had it shipped to us.  She was riding others horses and asking to ride her Dads all the time (but Dads horse is not as broke as Mama would like for her to ride).
So maybe about a week before her horse got here she doesn't want to ride anymore???? She fell off a little black pony but we put her right back on and that never bothered her.
What you ask made her not want to ride anymore...a horse that shook with her made her scared, she didn't even fall off when the horse shook!!  So now she won't ride she was to where she rode on her own and held the reins and you didn't have to lead her.  Now however she is to where she won't even sit on the horse!!!!!!!!!!
I am asking all you horse people out there what should I do to get her on a horse? Her Dad and I have tried everything we know of to get her on...just throwing her up there and making her ride (thinkin she will remember just riding again and love it), giving her, her time because we don't want her to go totally the other way and not want to ever ride (that won't work cause our life is horses & rodeo).
Dolly is not the horse that shook or bucked her off. When I ask her if she wants to ride she always tells me tomorrow...tomorrow i will mom.

This is me on the horse:

                                               http://www.funkyjunkinteriors.blogspot.com/
(Sorry haven't figured out how to add link yet)

Things I am diggin in my house that are white!

First my antique bakers table $125 bought in Illinois on a trip to Wiscousin with my mom and aunt! We just moved into a bigger home and I had nothing to put my pictures on and didn't want to clutter up my walls. I have always used my bakers table for extra food storage! But I didn't have room in my kitchen so here is my new use for it! I have to say I am diggin it.

Now because I have a 4 yr old and 4 month there is not much I can have WHITE! I know all you moms totally get that....but I ran across a GREAT DEAL on an article of clothing for myself.....

Ready for this I paid only $15.00 on a coat that should have been $49.95!! I was super excited I love when I can find a great deal and feel like I beat the store!

            Next week's theme is: Collections

If you have something to share that you collect join in the fun with Funky Junk Interiors!
Hope your day is Great!

**Hosting Fun Parties**

                                                         To: My Blogging Friends

I ran across through a friend of mine a website called http://www.houseparty.com/ it is a cool site that name brand manufactures use to get products out there like Gerber, Huggies pull-ups, quilted northern, kraft foods and sony playstation.

My friend hosted a Gerber party. It was very cool everyone got a thermal bag filled with goodies coupons, freebies like yogurt, baby food, juice and information packets ect...

They also have parties you can host that everyone has to be 21 and over for a fun Mamas night out with the girls.

You go to their website and sign up to get notices when they are having a party and need a hostess you only elect to host the products you want to!! They help you completely through the process even providing decorations and the stuff you give away ect.....

Who doesn't love to have a get together!! I am super excited because I just moved to a new place and think having a party will be an awesome way to meet new friends and it is not a party that they have to come and buy something..they get free stuff to take home!

I found a new blog I LOVE http://www.emeraldcovejewelry.blogspot.com/ so head over and check it out to!

Hope your day is Great!

*Maybe God is Right After All* by Cynthia Heald

This is the book that I am currently reading. Upon finishing the Introduction which was her search for radical ideas (searching for her place and where she wanted to be or should be) she asked us to answer 5 questions: (for our journey)

1) Before reading the next chapter reflect on your own life. Where are you in your spiritual journey? Are you a seeker, looking for truth, for something that is certain? Are you a new follower of Christ? Have you been following Christ for a long time?

I feel I am a seeker. I want to know more & feel closer to Christ.

2) How would you characterize your spiritual life at this point? Vibrant? Stale? Solid? Uncertain?Exciting? Routine? In what way would you like it to be different?

My spiritual life has always been in tacted just routine I suppose you could say. I believed in Christ & new he was always there & prayed to him. However, I feel it was almost in a selfish way like most of our culture only when you need something. I am at the point where I want Christ in my life all the time. I want to strive to be the person Christ wants us all to be....the one he gave his life for.

3) In my description of the community I belonged to, I talked about what I wanted out of life. In a few sentences, write down what you want out of life?

I want to be a great mother, wife and person. I want to be successful inside and outside of my family. I want to live without regret.

4)In this book I share ten radical truths to live by, truths that anchor me. If someone asked what your bottom-line truths are, the truths you live by, what would you say? What truths do you fall back on when you go through challenging times? Write down these truths. As you read through the book, you may want to come back to this list and fine-tune it.

The truths I fall back on:
Everything happens for a reason
No one is going to do it for you, you have to do it yourself
My family loves me no matter what-even when I am wrong- they anchor me
Lean on and talk to Christ

5) As you begin to read this book, write down a brief prayer asking God to guide you and speak to your heart so you can be transformed and renewed on your journey.

God- As your child I pray that you will guide me to you and show me the person you want me to become from this point in my life on. Please help me to open my heart & spirit to you & follow sincerely never looking back.

Hope your day is Great!

My Spiritual Journey

Hello my name is Kristin. I am a wife, mother, aunt, daughter and sister to a wonderful family with roots in horses (rodeo). My sister is Monica aka Blessed Mama:) She has encouraged me to start a blog...I was hesitate at first (what do I have to talk about that anyone would want to read) but then this morning while working out I thought why not take you on a journey that I am taking in my life right now. This will give me the opporunity to some what record my experience along the way for me and hopefully it will help open the hearts of others to get closer to Christ. I hope you will follow me and help me along the way. It should be a great experience.

First I want to explain where I am coming from and where I want to end up.
My mother comes from a Baptist background and my father comes from a Catholic. I have yet to be baptized as my parents felt it was our choice to choose our path. Over the years we would attend church here and there. We always believed, loved and prayed to God. But we were never over religious (if you will).

The last 2 years I have really started feeling an urge to get to know, explore and understand what God wants for all of us while we are here on the earth he created. Whether this comes with age, maturity, having my own family, or even from God pointing me the direction just because it is time I am not sure.....but all I know is I am ready. Through my spiritual journey I want to become closer to Christ putting my faith in him, become a better person and love life unconditionally.
I also would like to share along the way little things I come across cute crafts, recipes and stuff every mama loves (when she has time)!!

Hope your day is GREAT!
